Feeling Flat Lately? Here’s What Nature Knows That We Forget
A gentle reminder that your worth isn't tied to constant productivity.
A message from a wild mustard plant…
As I wandered with my dogs along the path by the river today, I noticed how much had changed — just since last week.
New plants and flowers had appeared almost overnight, taking centre stage with vibrant colour and presence.
And yet, others that were blooming only days ago had quietly faded, blending back into the background foliage.
Nature is always shifting.
Subtly. Gently. Unapologetically.
And it reminded me of something so simple, yet so easily forgotten:
✨ We are not meant to shine all the time.
Just like the flowers, we each have our own seasons of blossoming.
There are times when we're radiant, full of energy, creativity, and clarity — feeling aligned and on top of our game.
But just as naturally, there are times when we retreat inward — when our energy softens, our clarity wanes, and we're not as outwardly "productive."
It’s not a flaw. It’s not something to fix.
It’s part of the cycle.
In nature, nothing blooms all year round.
The daffodil doesn’t try to outshine the rose.
The trees don’t mourn their fallen blossoms — they trust that new ones will come in their own time.
There’s a rhythm. A wisdom. A balance.
And we’re part of that.
🤍 Sometimes, our role is to step forward and share our voice, our gifts, our light.
Other times, it's to take a gentle back seat — to observe, rest, integrate, or simply allow others their moment.
It doesn’t mean we’ve lost our way.
It means we’re processing, integrating and evolving.
In these quieter seasons, we are still growing — just not in ways the world always sees.
We’re replenishing. Listening. Re-aligning with what matters most.
So if you find yourself in a moment where you’re not “shining” — where you feel more invisible or less inspired — take heart.
Your cycle is not broken.
You are not falling behind.
You are simply in a different phase of your becoming.
🌸 And when it’s your time again, you will bloom — effortlessly, naturally — just as you’re meant to.
Until then, be gentle with yourself.
Let nature remind you: you are enough, even in the stillness.
The wild mustard plants are in full bloom this week where I live. 29 April 2025
Thank you for this Sue. Had not been feeling particularily vibrant or inspired lately and I was reminded that sometimes it is that "wintering" season of going inward. I appreciate you.
Thanks for this Sue ❤️. I know this but it can be hard to remember at times. Why we should feel bad for taking time to rest and recouperate I don't know, it's crazy making for sure 😜😅. I was reminded of cycles the other night when I arrived home from work to see all the daisies and dandelions in my lawn all closed up and "sleeping". It made me smile! 🥰
