Do you like Driftwood?
Today, while paddling in the river with my dog, something caught my eye.
A huge tree trunk lay resting on the old timber posts that help shape the river’s course.
I stood there imagining its journey.
Once it stood tall, deeply rooted, reaching towards the sky.
Then, perhaps through flood or storm, it was carried downstream—bumped against rocks, swept through rapids, slowly weathered by the current until it became smooth, pale and beautifully worn.
As I looked at it, I found myself wondering...
Was the tree ever truly stranded?
Or did the river carry it exactly as far as it needed to go?
We call it driftwood, as though it has wandered aimlessly.
But perhaps it isn’t driftwood at all.
Perhaps it is simply a tree that surrendered to currents it could never control.
And perhaps, at different times in our own lives, we are asked to do the same.
Because our life experiences may sometimes feel overwhelming, harsh and punishing.
And the more we resist them, the more painful they can be.
Instead we can choose to flow with life life’s ups and downs, and allow them to shape us, smooth our sharp edges and craft us into a magnificent piece of art.
The more I pay attention, the more I notice that life is constantly inviting my attention.
One day it might be a bird’s song, a stranger’s smile, or a small stack of balanced stones in the middle of a river.
Another day, it’s an entire tree trunk that’s been there all along.
It makes me wonder if wisdom isn’t about learning what to see, but about rediscovering how to see.
Because when the quality of our attention changes, ordinary moments begin to reveal extraordinary truths - through metaphors.
Perhaps life has always been speaking to us.
The question is... are we learning how to listen?
Stay curious my friends - the Universe is alive, and we are in a beautiful, dynamic relationship with it ALL the time.
With love and gratitude

That image immediately made me smile...
Beyond the content of may thought is the process of thinking. Then, of course, is the question: who is the thinker beyond the thoughts? As multidimensional beings there is always a higher order thinker thinking!
